2007 Visual Arts Emeritus Medal
Emeritus Professor David Williams AM
Emeritus Professor David Williams is a visiting fellow with the ANU Research
School of Humanities. In 2006, he retired as the director of the ANU School
of Art after more than 25 years in the position.
The Emeritus Medal recognises
Professor Williams' substantial influence in art education, cultural development
and visual arts activities regionally, nationally and internationally.
The medal
also recognises Professor Williams as a prominent driver for arts and cultural
exchange with Asia. His knowledge of visual arts in the region has enabled
him to play prominent roles in organisations including Asialink and events
like the Asia Pacific Triennial.
Due in large part to Professor William's energy and commitment, ACUADS was created
in 1987 and he has had an ongoing involvement with the organisation to the
present day. We congratulate him.
